Welcome to the Studio! This has been a dream of mine for some time now and once I finally decided "it's time", it felt like a huge relief- it's a blessing that I'm able to share this with my community. With yoga and Pilates, I believe that you can gain strength, flexibility and healthy mobility that will take you through your life with grace- with some help from loving family and friends, of course.
My hope for this section of the website is to provide you with information of interest as it pertains to fitness, wellness and nutrition. Obviously, I love fitness because it's what I teach, but I'm equally fascinated by wellness in general as well as nutrition. Always be your strongest advocate with any health professional and do your own research too. With nutrition, you just can't go wrong by eating clean. And then when things just don't feel right, start digging.
My "dig" started about 6 years ago when I was freezing, losing hair, always tired...the list goes on and on. Most of you will know right away what was going on, but it took me a long time to find the right person that finally diagnosed me with Hashimoto's and hypothyroid. Three different doctors told me I was depressed because my mom had just died. Yes, I was sad, but I KNEW that wasn't the problem. I had surgery to remove half my thyroid- cancer was found in the half they took, so I have ultrasounds every 6 months on the half I still have. Medication is really difficult to regulate, and it's a constant battle to feel GREAT. Don't settle for "good" or "in the range", please seek out the person that will help you to feel GREAT and in "optimum range". Wish me luck finding that person...
There's my wellness and nutrition all in a nutshell. My thyroid sometimes dictates how things go. I have a nasty sweet tooth. I mean nasty. I wish I could pull that thing out. And I like coffee. A lot. Ohmygosh, a donut and a cup of coffee. Yeeks!!! I really have to try hard to make sweets a TREAT, which is what they should be all the time. Coffee is my love but I don't drink it excessively. So I figure there are far worse things than that.
Fitness. I still love to jump around every once in awhile with very loud music. And if you ever want to do that, you just let me know and we'll have a special workout party. But I've realized that my body doesn't like it when I do that all the time. I can get a really great workout with PiYo, Pilates, yoga, or simply stretching and while my muscles might be sore, I'm not injured from overuse. I love my foam roller. I really do. And you should too because it is so very good for you.
Come in and see me, and let's get to know each other. My hope is that everyone feels at home and welcome in this studio and continues their journey to a life well lived feeling healthy and well.
Thanks for being here!
